Over the years, I noticed how un-fond I became with the holiday...Valentines Day. It always felt so over commercialized. The flowers and chocolates. If you didn’t have a Valentine, what a lonely day it was. If you did have a sweetheart, the expectations to deliver the perfect valentine gift or create that special date seemed a tad ridiculous.
Now that I have kids…Valentines Day of course has become a total cliché holiday in our house. The chocolates, flowers, valentines cards and gifts. The Valentines cartoons for days leading up to February 14th, and telling stories and talking about those we "reaweee like" and those we love more than anything in this world.
Being a Mother, has given me a different perspective and appreciation of the day. A day not only to show and talk about my loves, spoil them with sprinkle topped yogurt and heart shaped pancakes. But today, February 14th, I get to see into the eyes of my little 2 and 4 year old's hearts. Their hearts FULL (and I mean full, full y'all) of LOVE. It gives me a perspective. A view into these little souls just bursting with love and laughter. Their happiness and joy just waiting to share with the world, and one another...
Today, on Valentine's Day, I get to document them. I get to document their innocence and their raw and unfiltered love. Their hearts so giving and kind. Their hearts so full and ready to share. Happy Sweethearts Day, Everyone!
